"Utterly Deadly" Southern Pecan Pie
1 1/2 cups cane syrup
1 Cup Sugar
4 Eggs
4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter ( 1/2 stick)
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
1 1/2cups pecans, coarsely chopped
1(9-inch) unbaked pie crust
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium saucepan, bring syrup and sugar to boil 2 to 3 minutes.
Meanwhile, beat eggs in mixing bowl on medium.
Slowly pour hot syrup into eggs, pouring down side of mixing bowl to avoid hot syrup from splashing off beaters.
Add butter and vanilla.
Stir in pecans.
Pour into pie crust; bake 45 minutes or until set when knife is inserted in center.
If crust starts to darken, cover with aluminum foil to protect edges.
Makes 10 to 12 servings.
Cane syrup gives this a different taste.
