Buttermilk Bread

6 C flour
2 T. shortening
4 T. sugar
11/2 t. salt
2 C. buttermilk
2 pkgs. dry yeast, dissolved in 1/3 C. water

Mix this together, roll out dough in 6 long strips and braid (3 strips into loaf).
Then place on cookie sheet that has been greased.
Place side by side, put into a cold oven, then turn heat as low as 85 or 100 degrees, and let rise by the oven temp.
Keep in oven for an hour or until they are desired size. then turn the heat up to 350 degrees and bake until done, about 40 minutes.
